Les Fantômes

(FR) Deux cinéastes suisses se rendent à Vĩnh Long, au Vietnam, pour explorer l’histoire fragmentaire d’un grand-père vietnamien exilé en Suisse. Au cœur de cette enquête : une maison familiale au bord du Mékong, lieu de mémoire intime et de récits lacunaires. Devenue décor de film d’horreur et objet de rumeurs locales, la maison concentre des projections publiques qui se superposent à l’histoire familiale. En croisant archives et images contemporaines, Les Fantômes de Vĩnh Long interroge la transmission interrompue et la manière dont un lieu porte des récits multiples.

(EN) Two Swiss filmmakers travel to Vĩnh Long, Vietnam, to explore the fragmented history of a Vietnamese grandfather who went into exile in Switzerland. At the center of this investigation is a family house on the banks of the Mekong, a place of intimate memory and incomplete narratives. Now a setting for a horror film and the subject of local rumors, the house has become a site of public projections that overlap with the family’s own history. By weaving together archival material and contemporary images, The Ghosts of Vĩnh Long examines interrupted transmission and the ways a place can carry multiple, layered stories.
